KFM STEEL
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN
Prior to Lott3 Metz Architecture, Greg Metz, in
collaboration with Chad Gould, designed the new corporate offices
and plant employee facilities for KFM Steel in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The original steel production building from the turn of the century
was renovated to accommodate these functions. Many of the original
crane lifts and overhead boom crane were along with the exposed
brick to retain much of the original industrial feel. Within this
building an open office plan with enclosed conference rooms and
managers office were added along with new locker rooms and a new
lunchroom for the plant employees. The design allows for future
expansion to the upper mezzanine level.
