HAEBIC
RESIDENCE
GRAND
RAPIDS, MICHIGAN
On
wooded acreage in suburban Grand Rapids, Lott3Metz worked to develop
a new home for a small family and their expanding publishing business.
The home is sited at the top of ridge facing North into a wall of
dense foliage. The homes master suite, living/dining/kitchen,
guest room, and office were all oriented towards the foliage to
take advantage of the natural view and the filtered North light.
The existing and cultivated landscapes envelop the home on all sides
creating a strong sense of seclusion for the owners. The owners
desire to have the publishing office up in the trees
led us to separate the homes living and working functions
by floor with the living and sleeping functions on the first floor
and the publishing office located on a partial second floor with
views to the living area below and to the treetops outside.
